RAHIM TRYING TO FORGET

October 9, 2013

The captain of the Bangladesh cricket team, Mushfiqur Rahim, has said that his team is trying to forget the BPL spot fixing scandal and is looking to concentrate on the upcoming series against New Zealand.

New Zealand has to visit Bangladesh in October-November for a series of 2 test matches and 3 ODIs.

Talking to the reporters recently, Rahim said, “What happened in the last couple of months was distracting, but, we are looking to move on now. There is an important series coming up against New Zealand and we are trying to focus on that.”

“They are a quality side and they have had a good tour of England recently. If we have to get better of them, we will have to be at our peak.”

“It’s not easy to focus on cricket when such things happen. But, you need to try. You can’t just keep thinking about that controversy.”

“I am not in favour of BPL being stopped. But, everybody involved in the tournament should be honest. Otherwise, there is no point organizing such a big competition.”

“I was really surprised when I first came to know about all this. Off course, the culprit should be punished and the governing bodies are there to do the same.”

“This is not the first spot fixing scandal in the game. It has happened before as well, but, in Bangladesh, it has happened for the first time and it has created chaos. Hopefully, all this will end soon.”

The Bangladesh middle order batsman, Mohammad Ashraful, is the main accused in this scandal.

Ashraful is one of the best batsmen produced by Bangladesh ever. He is the second highest run getter for them in test match cricket. He has also captained Bangladesh for a couple of years.
